It creates opportunities for all to creatively engage with technology, farming and urban life.
EDIBLE CITIES trasforms a megacity like Shanghai with feasible and integrated solutions.
There are: urban farming, green corridors, community-based urban living, food production and the green economy.
EDIBLE CITIES participates in a national and global movement.
We work with young creative people, makers and innovators, students and researchers.
We are in dialogue with institutions in China and abroad, including New York University Shanghai, Tongii University, the Milan Polytechnic and many others.
EDIBLE STOP
PILOT PROJECT 1
Public open space-subway station with high volume of pedestrian flow.
EDIBLE STOP will create a new relationship between urban residents and nature to make the city more liveable.
The installation will showcase a variety of green as well as food production using aquaponics and hydroponics vertical sistem.
Its design will be based on adjustable modules that can be adapted to multiple sites.
EDIBLE SCHOOL
PILOT PROJECT 2
Educational Istitute in the playground of eleentery schools.
EDIBLE SCHOOL is based on a recreational and urban farming focused educational modular "tree houses" placed on empty fields or under utilised spaces.
Our EDIBLE SCHOOL installation will generate a new educational program for childrens.
They will get to rediscover nature and interesting farming knowledge while playing.
The school can even offer a series of courses on farming science combined with history, culture,solar terms, Chinese literature and so on, making learning for children more fun than ever.
EDIBLE LANE
PILOT PROJECT 3
Community Space-Lane Houses
Lane house compounds are the central community for downtown Shanghai urban residents.
Our focus is to create an EDIBLE LANE that reinforces the sense of community among people sharing the same values.
The project offers a recreational gathering for older people in such ommunity space.
Our EDIBL LANE will prduce food within the compound.
The installation is similar to an allotment the residents will manage the food production using aquaponics and hydroponics vertical farming sistems.
